“People often take peanut butter with them when flying”

What's it like to work at the airport? Esther Zegers, group leader at G4S Security, is happy to tell you more. “Every day is different; you meet all kinds of people from different countries and the situations you handle change all the time. It's what makes our work at Eindhoven Airport so dynamic,” says the group leader from Heikant in Veldhoven.  She's been working at Eindhoven Airport since 2009 and heads a team of thirty staff, is an on-the-job trainer, works at the security checkpoint and doe hold baggage checks. “You'd be amazed at what people bring with them; from deep fryers to frozen sausages. And lots of peanut butter.” The new security lanes with CT scanners means that passengers can leave liquids in their bag, making the security checks a lot easier for passengers and security. Esther feels completely at home in her job at the airport. And living almost next door to the airport, she's at work in no time, which she sees as a great advantage. Sure, she also hears the planes flying over at home in Heikant but it doesn't bother her much. “I live close to my work. And in my spare time I sometimes check out the planes with my son."
