See, hear and experience on Neighbour Day Eindhoven Airport
Over a thousand local residents who had registered in advance visited the Eindhoven Airport Neighbour Day on Saturday. Visitors could see and hear in and around a hangar what happens at the airport. There was a demonstration by the Eindhoven Air Mobility Command fire department and children (under supervision) were also allowed to spray water themselves. The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee showed their equipment and explained their duties; visitors took a look inside the detainee bus and children climbed on the motorcycle. The bird control explained their work (preventing and scaring away birds near the airport). At handlers Viggo and Skytanking, local residents were allowed to take a seat in a pushback vehicle and marshal (guide aircraft with special luminous sticks to their seats via hand signals).
Security company G4S also explained their work as did Customs where prohibited items and articles that are not allowed to be taken across the border were shown. Customs' sniffer dog was also given a search warrant. At Heijmans, local residents could take a look through VR glasses at the expansion of Eindhoven Airport's terminal, which will be completed in mid-2027. The Eindhoven Aeroclub Motor Flying-the sport pilots who also use the runway-was also present and talked about their passion. Visitors flocked to have their picture taken in the small plane in the hangar and, when asked, received information about the airport from Eindhoven Airport's Regional Information Center. For the children, the photo opportunity with PSV mascot Phoxy and playing a game of FIFA facilitated by partner PSV were also a hit.
Neighbour Day was made possible by the voluntary efforts of several dozen Eindhoven Airport employees and the partner companies operating at the airport.
