Eindhoven Airport today published its 2023 annual report. Last year, passenger numbers reached a new record. There were no queues and passenger satisfaction was never so high. The airport stayed within the agreed limit of a maximum of 41,500 flights. Eindhoven Airport is in good financial shape, allowing the airport to make important investments.

There is a great need to travel for leisure, family visits and work. And this is reflected by the record passenger numbers. Eindhoven Airport welcomed 6.8 million passengers in 2023 (2022: 6.3 million). There is also support for the airport in the surrounding area. According to reputation research conducted last year, 73 percent of those surveyed are positive to very positive about the airport and the role it plays in the region.

Roel Hellemons, CEO Eindhoven Airport: "We look back on a successful year in which we welcomed more passengers than ever and in which the operation ran smoothly. Passengers were also very satisfied, according to research. There were no queues, and we were again able to deliver the quality our passengers expect from us. Importantly, we also performed well on safety in 2023. Furthermore, we are of course pleased with the support in the region for the airport." In 2023, Eindhoven Airport had 41,496 flight movements., coming from 40,252 in 2022. With this, the number of flight movements in 2023 was 3 percent higher than in 2022. There were 84 destinations flown to in 2023 (2022: 87). The net result amounted to 19.2 million euros in 2023 (2022: 18.8 million euros). Eindhoven Airport's revenues increased by 9 percent to 87.8 million euros in 2023 (2022: 80.6 million euros). Accelerate sustainability In 2023, the airport took steps aimed at making the airport more sustainable at an accelerated rate. After Eindhoven Airport previously committed to the goal of reducing noise by 30 percent by 2030 (compared to 2019), in 2023 the goal was added to also reduce CO2 emissions from Eindhoven Airport's air traffic by 30 percent by 2030 (compared to 2019). In this 'Commitment 2030', concrete actions are named. For example, from January 1, 2026, Eindhoven Airport will stop facilitating (fossil) private flights. These private aircraft that relatively cause a lot of noise pollution and CO2 emissions per passenger will no longer be welcome at the airport. Also, from 2030, only the latest generation of aircraft that are cleaner and quieter will still be welcome at the airport. To achieve a 30 percent reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030, there will also be a mandatory admixture of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at Eindhoven Airport. To encourage airlines to blend more SAF, the airport will make a financial contribution available to airlines for this from 2024.

Although there is satisfaction in many areas, there are also areas for improvement. Eindhoven Airport therefore continues to work on further improving the quality of the airport and its services. In addition, we continue to work on further optimizing the relationship with our surroundings. We continue to cooperate closely with the Eindhoven Airport Consultation Committee (LEO), in which local residents, governments, and companies are also represented.
