With one million inhabitants, Naples is Italy's third largest city. It boasts a truly spectacular location near mount Vesuvius and overlooks the Bay of Naples and the beautiful islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida. Naples is also one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean.

Places to visit in Naples

The Spaccanapoli is a main street that is exactly the opposite of the stereotypical narrow winding streets of Naples. It runs for three kilometres and cuts through the heart of the old city. Naples is also known as a multi-layered city. Speleologist Vincenzo Albertini guides tourists through the underworld of Naples. These subterranean spaces cut out of old tuff stone spread out into an expansive underground system of corridors and hollows. Pompeii should be on every visitor's to-do list and Naples is the ideal starting point. This excavated city allows you to walk the streets of Pompeii for hours without any hindrance.

Discover Naples

Winding, narrow, romantic streets, but also plenty of fascinating sights and a beautiful boulevard. That's what symbolises Naples. Neapolitan cuisine is considered one of the best in the world. You can eat pizza everywhere in Italy, but Naples is where it all began! In fact, the world-famous pizza Margherita was invented in Naples. Did you know that the ingredients of the pizza are based on the Italian flag? Tomato (red), mozzarella (white) and basil (green). And only real buffalo mozzarella is good enough for a genuine pizza. Ideally, you should first have an antipasti before the main course, and end the meal with a delicious Italian gelato.
