The beautiful Izmir sits on Turkey’s western coast. Atmospheric little streets and stunning architecture characterise this city. There’s also plenty for children to do here, ensuring parents get some well-earned holiday time. A luxury resort or cultural bed & breakfast - what’s it to be? The choice is yours!
The gorgeous clock tower at Konak Square
This tower dates back over a century and is a great base from which to explore the city. You’ll often see street vendors selling pigeon feed on the square. You’ll also see lots of families with children enjoying an ice cream there. Beside the clock tower, the colourful mosque also catches your eye instantly and attracts many visitors, year after year.
The streets of Alsanak
The streets of Alsanak exhibit a unique combination of styles, with very modern buildings flanked by very old ones. They are located in the city's most popular district, along with various main shopping streets featuring brands such as ZARA, Nike and Tommy Hilfiger. On the opposite side of this district is a lovely boulevard where people socialise over a meal or drinks, accompanied by Turkish music.
The former market place, where residents would come to do their weekly grocery shop. A section of the old walls is still visible, and there are even a few pillars still standing. If you’re interested in seeing what remains of the old Roman city, this is absolutely where it’s at!
Izmir Culture Park
There is lots to do here, including a zoo and amusement park. Ideal for a family holiday, with hours of fun to be had. As we said... Izmir is extremely diverse and perfect for all ages!
