'I want to have the total overview of flight handling'

Name: Pieter Vennix Function: Operations coordinator at Viggo at Eindhoven Airport Leisure: Drumming with the drum band of music association De Vriendschap and cycling.

Tightly organized processes that connect well and communicate with involved colleagues so that situations can be anticipated. Pieter Vennix, Operations Coordinator at Viggo at Eindhoven Airport, goes for it every day. "I want to have the total overview of the handling and know where things might start to pinch so that I can intervene in time." Pieter has held his current position since 2019. He is responsible for ensuring that flights depart safely, that the number of passengers and pieces of baggage is correct with the information in the systems and that the Airport Operations Manager has the correct data. Pieter works closely with the Platform Coordinator, the Passage Coordinator and the Load Controller in gathering the information. He is also in contact with the captain if he requests an ambulance or State Police on the platform. When he has all the information in focus, he makes a plan for handling the flights. He has the overview and makes adjustments where necessary.

Pieter enjoys working on airside where he can work well especially during the summer season but where there is also time for a chat with colleagues. "My job can be stressful; especially if there is a lot going on at once or if there is a disruption. Then there is a lot of information coming from different parties and there has to be a quick switch and response to the situation." He can handle that. "I don't get stressed that's not in my personality. I stay calm and take care of what needs to be done."

Pieter made a trip to "Big Brother" Schiphol in 2020. There he helped set up Viggo's handling for Transavia. The experience he gained in previous years as a Flight Officer and the three internships he did at Eindhoven Airport during his studies in Aviation Services made him a routine operator who knows the airport and its processes like the back of his hand. He considers Eindhoven Airport his second home, where he never wants to leave. He does not yet have any concrete plans for the future of his career. 'Perhaps a position as team leader' or 'something else where he can further develop his skills.' "But I'm staying here. It's a beautiful location, I have nice colleagues and I'm working in the aviation world which is what I wanted when I was in high school."
