
Privacy statement - Baggage
Which personal data do we process? If you travel through Eindhoven Airport with baggage, information on your baggage is processed. Your item of baggage is given a unique barcode which is linked to your name, flight number, seat number, passenger number, passport number or ID number (hereinafter: “baggage data”).
In addition, pseudonymized data, metadata and aggregated data from the baggage systems are processed (hereinafter: “aggregated data”). Why do we process your personal data? Flow We process your baggage data on behalf of the airline, with whom you have an agreement. Your baggage data are processed as part of efforts to monitor security at the airport and promote the speedy flow of baggage. One of the ways this is done is by routing, sorting and (if needed) temporarily storing your baggage. Legal basis: necessary for the execution of your agreement with the airline.
Screening We also have a legal obligation to screen baggage. In this way, we ensure that no hazardous substances or prohibited substances end up on board the aircraft. For this screening, we process personal data if it is necessary to link your suitcase to you. Legal basis: necessary to comply with our legal obligation.
Analysis The aggregated data are processed for flow management, capacity analysis and baggage system management and maintenance. Legal basis: necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by us.
How long do we retain your details? The baggage data will be deleted within five days once your flight has departed. The aggregated data will be deleted within 30 days after your flight departs.
Who do we share your data with? Depending on the circumstance, we report progress in handling of your baggage to the airline you are flying with. If needed we might also share your data with the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee and Dutch Customs.
In case the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee or Dutch Customs want to know who owns an item of baggage, they will contact the airline you are flying with. Eindhoven Airport does not provide this information.
Who is the controller? The airline you are flying with is data controller for the baggage data. Eindhoven Airport N.V. is processor.
Eindhoven Airport N.V. is the data controller for the aggregated data.
