Trip to Milan
Whether it concerns the monuments, the paintings of Da Vinci or the outfit of the average Milanese: it is all stylish. How could that not be in the fashion city of Milan? With 1.3 million inhabitants, Milan is the second biggest city of Italy. From an economic point of view, however, it is the capital of the country. In the wake of the Italian stock market, many financial institutions have located here. The creative industries are also highly developed.
Landmarks in Milan
In the 14th century the family Visconti seized power in Milan. For this family, the Castello Sforzesco was built. In the castle you will be introduced to various works of Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. From the Castello it is less than a fifteen-minute walk to the Duomo (the cathedral) of Milan. Work on this church took five centuries, but the result is worthwhile: countless towers and statues decorate this paragon of Gothic art. The Duomo is dedicated to Ambrose, the city’s patron saint. The convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie (Our Lady of Grace) is located further on in the centre. Here you will find Da Vinci’s masterpiece The Last Supper.
For the football supporter, a visit to the football stadium San Siro is a must. The stadium's official name is Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and is the home ground for AC Milan and Inter Milan.
Fashion city Milan
Italians are known for their sense of style, but that applies even more to the Milanese. Many large fashion houses, such as Versace and Armani, are established here. In the exclusive fashion shows, trends are born. Haute couture is perfectly normal here, so visit one of the shops and be a fashion pioneer.
